During the ‘Nationale Boomfeestdag 2014’, a nationwide celebration day for trees, FINALLY the prototype of the Bobbing Forest was launched. It was a bit tense for our René, because of the extremely tight schedule. Fortunately the tree was ready on time for the festivities.
The great attendance during the joint opening of the Bobbing Forest and the Aqua Dock caused a great atmosphere. As icing on the cake the prototype was ‘baptized’ by alderman Alexandra van Huffelen, artist Jorge Bakker and Willem Griffioen of Mercon. All three were given a small bottle of champagne to traditionally break it against the buoy ( In this case to throw…). Since the buoy was bobbing in the water, this was not an easy task, challenging their sense of direction.
During the testing phase the prototype is on view in the Aqua Dock of the RDM Campus. We will post news about developments on the website: www.bobbingforest.com
