At that time, the seating object was sprayed in colour and finished.<\/p>\n<p>And now we can share a first with you; the Backbone Bench has been installed. It is in place as if it has always been there.<\/p>\n<p>The Backbone is a striking example of how intensive cooperation can lead to a special project. Lola Landschapsarchitect designed the new city park in which the Backbone was given such a prominent place; the green City Hall promenade.<\/p>\n<p>Artist Jan van der Ploeg, in turn, makes the Backbone come to life with his beautiful colour combinations. Together, we have created the ideal place to sit, rest and enjoy a colourful environment. Nice detail: this Backbone is the largest work that Jan van der Ploeg has ever undertaken.<\/p>\n<p>Mothership is responsible for the concept development here. The Backbone is the first large (art) object within the Zeegroene Loper; the vision that Mothership developed for the inner city of Almere. In the run-up to the opening of the City Hall promenade and the Floriade 2022, several projects will follow, including three artworks in the public space of and around Almere Central Station.<\/p>\n<p>During the installation of the Backbone, the first positive reactions from Almere came immediately;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So beautiful, I am in love&#8230;.&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Speechless&#8230;rarely seen something so beautiful&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This work is really going to have an impact, can&#8217;t help it&#8221;.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/1&#8243;][vc_gallery el_id=&#8221;gallery-139859&#8243; medias=&#8221;87011,87013,87015&#8243; gutter_size=&#8221;3&#8243; screen_lg=&#8221;1000&#8243; screen_md=&#8221;600&#8243; screen_sm=&#8221;480&#8243; single_overlay_opacity=&#8221;50&#8243; single_padding=&#8221;2&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Backbone Bench has been installed.
