Michiel Reessink (1976) was born in Delfzijl and lives and works in Arnhem. He is a graduate of the School of the Arts in Arnhem. Reessink primarily makes sculptures, woodcuts and paintings. The woodcuts and paintings often represent the human and his/her environment in many different forms. Map-like elements often form the base in this work, in which the human is either fused with the landscape, either he/she is absent, but still leaving his or her tracks. His sculptures, however, are often modified versions of existing data or objects. With this a new reality comes forward, that is often characterized as being ambigious and on the borderline of good and evil, usually with a dose of irony.
