The hall of plenty

The Horn of Plenty by artist Arno Coenen made our Facebook page flood these last few weeks! The huge artwork on the inner facade of the Market Hall was the center of national and international media attention!

The first phase of the work is in fact almost finished, so the impact of the work is already visible. However, our project manager Faye Ellen is still workin hard behind the scenes! The completed artwork will be presented during the opening of the building in October 2014, including the projection into the “vortex” of the Horn of Plenty.

Are you already curious about how it looks now? Arno Coenen was with Iris Roskam on June 6, 2014 interviewed by the Dutch newschannel NOS. Watch the interview HERE.

    ABABA nominated for Ketelbinkie Price

During the ‘Ondernemersontbijt’ (networking breakfast for entrepeneurs) on June 18, 2014 the Ketelbinkie Price 2013 was awarded from the hands of Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb. The House of ABABA was nominated for this award, together with GROOS and Granny’s Finest. We are proud to be nominated with such inspiring companies. Congratulations GROOS with the victory!

The Ketelbinkie Prize is awarded each year to a leading young company in Rotterdam each year. Mothership was an award recipient of the Ketelbinkie Price in 2008.

      Natasa doesn’t stick anymore

Our Natasa has left the mothership. For six years she has been working as part of the Mothership team. As a creative mind she has led projects in amongst others Rotterdam and Nieuwegein, she guided the students of Threesome Project and she designed the famous books of Mothership. And last but not least: she always took good care of the grooves on the Mothership New Year drinks.

In addition to her work at Mothership Natasa has always been a busy bee. She is reducing her tasks at Mothership in order to work on her own portfolio. But once a part of the team, always part of the team! We will miss you at the office, but see you soon 😀

        Mothership to Go

With an eye on the Architecture Biennale 2014 we thought it was time to put several of our art projects in Rotterdam literally on the map. With a true Mothership Art Route you can now be guided along 17 (semi)permanent projects in and around downtown Rotterdam. The route is available amongst others at ArchiGuides, King Kong Hostel, the House of ABABA, Boijmans and the Kunsthal for free. Go visit them all!

          Social affairs in ABABA

Boomerang Cards is a notion in the Netherlands. In collaboration with the Boomerang team ABABA dived into the archives to collect the most legendary designs from the Boomerang history.

Besides the presentation of these designs ABABA also shows the social media designs of Boomerang Create: the crowdsourcing platform by Boomerang. Especially for this occasion artist Iwan Smit designed the decor of the exhibition.

The exhibition ‘The Social Salon’ can be seen in the House of ABABA until July 16th at Witte de 7a, Rotterdam
