Iepe Rubingh is a Dutch performance artist and founder of Chess Boxing. As a performance artist, Rubingh has closed crossings in Berlin and Tokyo to create huge traffic jams. After the Tokyo action he was put in jail for 10 days. Rubingh founded the sport Chess Boxing in 2003 , inspired by the comic book Froid Équateur by Enki Bilal. He won the first World Chess Boxing Championship in Amsterdam in 2003 and is currently the driving source and spokesman for this new sport. He is the current president of the World Chess Boxing Organization.
