Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk, the artist behind Cirque de Pepin, was born in Waddinxveen. He lives and works in The Hague. Van den Nieuwendijk works as a painter, illustrator and sculptor. He is mainly inspired by the old Spanish masters such as Velasquez and Zurbaran. Traditional methods are re-translated and transformed into today’s sample & zap culture. Quirky transformations of sweet fairy tale characters into creeps from the basement or freaks from a cabinet of curiosities.
