Threesome

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen recently opened its new exhibition on contemporary art, XXXL Painting, in Rotterdam’s harbour. For the show the submarine construction shed in the former dry docks of the RDM Campus was transformed into a gigantic art studio. To visit the show you have to use the ‘Aqualiner’ to reach the shed. The sign-posting on the route from the museum to the ferry had to be real attention-grabbers, so the museum floated a contest for ideas. Mothership’s Threesome internship programme and the Hogeschool Rotterdam drew up a plan and won. Threesome marked the route with coloured ribbons with quotes from the painters in the show, Klaas Kloosterboer, Chris Martin and Jim Shaw.

Commissioned by the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the students in Threesome designed the ribbon plan and affixed them along the route leading to the Aqualiner.
