When The Lightness Of Poetry
When The Lightness Of Poetry is about the necessity of a simple gesture en consists of a program of four different performances in the week of 19 untill 27 September. Four internationally well known artists were invited by Sculpture International Rotterdam.
The film 'The Ashes of Pasolini' by Alfredo Jaar can be seen the entire week at the Coolsingel 47, were a small theater has been erected.
The live performance 'Lucky Day' by Roman Ondák will be performed on Saturday 26 September at the fountain "De maagd van Holland', situated at the Nieuwemarkt.
Also on Saturday the live performance 'Time' by David Lamelas will be performed at the Coolsingel, in front of no. 119.
Furthermore the performance 'A ee el u?' by the young British artist Rory Pilgrim wil be shown, who believes in the possibility to speak the unspeakable. On the steps of the Rotterdam city hall a different choir will be singing to the visitors and passers-by. The voices do not sing understandable words, merely the sounds of the question which is asked at the end of the performance: 'Can We Help You? '
These performances have been commissioned by Sculpture International Rotterdam (SIR, previously known as Internationale Beeldencollectie.
