The Guard
Hans van Bentem
On a three meter tall comet splinter stands the Guard. When creating the three meter tall statue, artist Hans van Bentem was inspired by the Japanese anime cartoon "Gundam". Since 2005 the statue has been placed on the Westblaak in Rotterdam (NL), watching over the skate park. The statue was placed at this location after the skating youths had been collecting autographs to ask whether the statue could be placed near the skate park.
