Geert Mul

Artist: Geert Mul The 4 in 1 building in Breukelen houses four different organisations: a secondary school, a music school, a library and a daycare centre. The intention of the artwork is to enhance the awareness of the collective presence of the four organizations in the building.

The artwork is made up of four units, each consisting of a screen, a sensor and a computer. All units are linked. When a hand is placed upon a sensor, it can be seen on all screens. The shape of the hand has a colour and it will radiate images. Both elements refer to location of the user (e.g. unit in the library will generate images realted to books, literature etc.). When someone else touches a sensor on a different location, the images radiating from the first hand will disappear and only the shape of the hands remain. The locations of the users are then indicated only through the colours of the hand shapes.
