Free Gaming
Rnul & DSTRUCT
Rnul and Dstruct where invited on August 18th, during the Free Gaming festival in Rotterdam (NL) , to show several works of art. All artworks had a link with the theme "gaming".Rnul showed Tomato Killer and Control me Life. Tomato Killer is an interactive installation, where visitors could throw tomato's to the people on a screen, using a Wii controller. The typical rough action in computer games is replaced by the innocent act of throwing a tomato.Control me Life is an installation where a real person is being controlled using a mobile camera, a screen and a joystick. At first the player does not notice he of she is controlling a real life person. Only after a while they will notice and also they notice the fact you are able to shoot the people who are visiting the festival with the gun shown on the screen. A choice has to be made whether or not to shoot the people: the choice is easier when one is confronted with non-existing computer characters.Dstruct showed the Noisejoy. Noisejoy is an installation which looks like a giant joystick. By pushing the buttons and moving the joystick the visitors can manipulate the sound. The noise made by the Noisejoy are typical 8-bit computer sounds, which the visitor can manipulate to make a rhythmic whole.
