Nieuwegein
Sober Industries
The artwork consists of two powerful merging water jets, inspired by Nieuwegein as a city in the water through which several canals run through and the merging of the former municipalities Jutphaans and Vreeswijk in 1971. The sculpture is composed of many pieces of wood on which 3-D mapping is applied. 3-D mapping is a special combination of projected animations and traces the contours of the sculpture. Residents and interested parties could manipulate these animations aided by Sober Industries. The building period of downtown Nieuwegein was completed with this temporary sculpture in the public space February 10, 2012.
Commissioned by the Cultural Activities in the Nieuwegein City Centre Program, Natasa Heydra acted for Mothership as curator and producer.
