Geert Mul is a Dutch Media artist, who started his career in the mid- 90’s as a VJ performer, which marks him as one of the first video artists in the world. Geert started to create video screenings combined with pop music for a Rotterdam discotheque. These events grew into interactive video and audio installations and commissioned works in a variety of settings: museums, pop-festivals, and public-space. For almost 20 years he has been exploring the possibilities of generating visual poetry by re-combining images from collections and databases in video’s, photographs and installations. Mul is also designing a data-based methodology of acquiring ‘knowledge’ in the form of experiences, associations and visual poetry, through intuitive and playful interaction with databases and archives.
